Course Evaluation

The Architectural communications course has allowed me to further develop vital skills such as model making, materials selection, 2D and 3D drawings and many other that are key to success in the architectural profession.

I believe that by structuring this course with three four week workshops with differing focus' you are able to successfully identify the three keys precision, spatially and fluidity and how through modeling, drawing, colour, we are able to express our ideas and concepts through different architectural communications mediums.

Reflecting back on the fluid thoughts to action workshop i was able to build upon my skills in creating form throughout the use of tone and light and shadow. This has allowed me to develop my communicative techniques about architecture and how we as people interact with the spaces a concepts.

From the Architectural drawing workshop i was able to gain and build on some extremely vital skills needed in communicating architectural ideas and how to express them in 2D and 3D. Many important skills were addresses through activities such as 2 point perspectives, shadow rendering, freehand sketches, and many other compositional techniques. This has allowed me to broaden my skill is presentation of architectural spaces in a technical sense.

The Material Modelling workshop has enabled me u to grasp the concept of space and how form is created. Also how to utilise different and unique contrasting materials to evoke a meaning or underlying concept.

ARCH 1162 has been successful in broadening my knowledge in architecture communication mediums and developing skills that will inevitably be utilised in further years of study and into architectural practise.
